good people share: 1119
dear good people,
it’s time for a wide variety of things to lose their stigmas — taking a day off, being really into chillwave, retorting a colleague, properly cleaning your laptop, binge watching, sleeping and making the most of thursdays.
and hey, thanks to “all kinds of people” that showed up last month for the first iteration of an informal get-together. future gatherings will be informed by these sticky-note responses. highlights include:
q. topic you would like to discuss/do with a larger group // a. discussing politics, playing/watching more footy, wearing costumes, teaming up for trivia nights.
q. topic you want to know more about in [portland] // a. civic institutions, cultural activities, new restaurants, mushrooms and gravel biking.
thanks for spreading the word about this monthly newsletter. feel free to send me names to add onto the distribution list and please let me know if you have suggestions for upcoming concerts or events. on the other hand, just reply if you would like to unsubscribe.

there’s something cool about being informed.
if toffee club is your cozy english football pub, husband (pete), wife (nikki) and brother (jack) want away days brewing co. (‘beers worth traveling for”) to feel more like you’re on holiday in europe.
the trio opened the “footy” bar nearly four years ago to build “community around a shared love of good football, good food, good drinks and good people” — and launched away days just 4 months ago. the brewery and taproom is designed for conversation and the beers are european inspired with pacific nw flavor, along with lower abvs to extend your hang time.
on top of creating community through both a bar and brewing co., they organize a coed toffee league — a football league full of [all kinds of people]. each team designs their own kit and competes for a spot in the final match at providence park. applications for next seasons league are still open.
homelessness remains a key concern for everyone in our community. transition projects, a leader in transitioning people from homelessness and living on the streets into housing, released its biennial snapshot of homelessnessthat highlights important statistics explaining where we are, and what we need to do about it. use this as a conversation advancer when the time is right.
