good people share: 0821
this newsletter started with a playlist and calendar of concerts. years later, it’s a regular digest of things that inform and motivate me to share with a community of good people.
dear good people,
despite wishful thinking that summer would bring the (privilege of) post-pandemic reality, the situation remains foolish, uncertain and/or forever.
it has me wondering what’s here to stay - psychological scars, small business closures, insufficient social progress and even common misperceptions.
no matter what comes next, let’s not forget some lighter OG pastimes voice calls, fantasy sports, flossing and tackling that feeling of blah.
if there’s one thing to click this month, spend 22 minutes watching this short documentary (featured during the Olympics) that will remind you of what’s possible when good people connect and come together.
music share
this playlist is updated at the beginning of every month. it’s intended for a spectrum of moods and to be played from top to bottom.

if you’ve ever made the trek to the gorge, you must have thought, why is it here (since it’s “150 miles from nowhere”)? check out enormous: the gorge story — a documentary from 4:08 productions and director nic davis — which chronicles the story of the internationally-renowned concert venue.
newsletter favorite jelani memory continues to expand the platforms powered by @akidsbookabout and recently launched a kids class about series, a masterclass for kids 10–15 years old offering weekly sessions focused on careers, life skills, and big ideas.
check out the first two episodes (the line up and cladestino) in a series of stories featuring the team from república, a delicious “mexico-forward food and drink concept” whose “staff is almost entirely composed of bipoc folks, most of them immigrants or the daughters and sons of immigrants.”
sooj and jef make “art and objects with positive intention” and collaborate with other sustainable and ethical companies trying to make a positive impact.
gather
while it’s encouraging that we can finally support artists, venues and other small businesses IRL, many of us are rightfully keeping our distance, at least through this latest uptick. be safe and read the fine print as many venues require vaccinations (🙌) or even host outdoor shows.
